Still concerned over the controversies trailing the recently enacted Environmental Management and Protection Law, Lagos governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday assured residents that the new law was meant to make life better for the residents.
Governor Ambode, however, reminded residents that the hitherto monthly environmental sanitation was cancelled to give way for the new initiative which would now make environmental cleanliness a daily affair.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Kehinde Joseph, the governor disclosed that the new law had provided effective monitoring machinery to ensure a cleaner and healthy environment state- wide.
Ambode said: “The newly enacted law of Lagos State is for the good of all Lagosians as it was designed to holistically address the challenge of waste management in the State and create opportunity for more people who have the capacity to mobilize resources to participate in refuse management in the state to do so.”
