Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has opened up on their visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in London, disclosing that the president is as fit as a fiddle. He also disclosed that himself, President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and Senate Leader, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, discussed national issues with the president on Wednesday. “President is as fit as a fiddle,’ Yakubu Dogara said.
“After burning national issues, it was all PMB’s vintage humorous jokes. I’m so elated he is as fit as a fiddle.”
Dogara, who tweeted via his verified official twitter handle, @Yakub- Dogara yesterday, said the National Assembly leadership discussed national issues with the President.
The leadership of the National Assembly’s visit to the President is sequel to an agreement reached between Saraki and Dogara. Saraki had, at the end of the visit, said: “There is no cause for alarm.”
His statement was meant to douse apprehensions and speculations in Nigeria about Buhari’s health. And after meeting the President on Wednesday night, Saraki declared: “The president I saw today is healthy, witty and himself… he is doing well, was cheerful and in good spirits.
“Myself, Rt. Honourable Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and leader of Senate, Ahmed Lawan paid a visit to President Buhari in Abuja House in London. We were delighted to see that President Buhari is doing well.
“The president’s absence and imminent return shows that there is no vacuum in government and our system of democracy is working with all organs of government fulfilling their mandate.
“And let me use the time tested cliché; there is no cause for alarm!” The President thanked all Nigerians for their constant prayers and kind wishes for his health.
The President made his feelings known on his twitter handle, @ MBuhari, on Wednesday night, shortly after Saraki, Dogara and Lawan visited him in London.
He said: “Pleased to receive Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Senate Ahmed Lawan, tonight.
“I thanked them for visiting. I’m also grateful to Nigerians, Christians and Muslims alike, for their prayers and kind wishes for my health.’’
