Ganduje launches 550km rural roads project

Following neglect of the 5km/44 Local Government road project of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has embarked on the construction of 550 rural community roads projects across the state.

The programme, according to the governor, who inaugurated the project tagged: “Karkara Salamu Alaikum, an Integrated Rural Development Programme,” at Garun Gabas Local Government Area yesterday, wondered that local government areas were for a long time neglect without basic social amenities.

He said: “In order to improve outlook of our villages, this programme is indispensable and it will reawaken the rural development project that had been long neglected.” Ganduje hinted that already heavy equipment and plants hitherto left to decay at the state Ministry of Water Resources and Water Resource Board, had since been repaired and mobilised to sites.

He added that this is the time that rural communities would realise their values in the state, even as he promised that his administration would do everything within its power to inject more money in the programme with a view to making the people comfortable. The 550km roads include Garun Mallam-Kiyawa and Agalawa Road; Kachako- Jirago and Tsangaya Road.
