The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major-General Ebenezer Oyefolu, has stressed the need for military officers and men to ensure improved security at the barracks.
To this end, Oyefolu said the army authorities would encourage commanders to construct perimeter fence in barracks towards warding off insecurity threats.
He spoke weekend at the inauguration of projects and foundation laying of the perimeter fence of 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The projects, including reactivated borehole, micro booster station reticulated water point and another borehole at Vulcans House, Abeokuta, were facilitated by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Basil Adonkie.
According to the GOC, many army barracks in the country are not fenced thus making them susceptible to security breaches, including encroachment activities of herdsmen and land grabbers.
