City hail Iheanacho’s goal

… Troost-Ekong, happy with 10th cap



English Premier League outfit, Manchester City, on Friday celebrated kelechi Iheanacho’s goal for the Super Eagles in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Senegal in an international friendly match on Thursday.

With the Eagles trailing following Moussa Sow’s 54th minute opener, Iheanacho converted an 82nd minute penalty after he was brought down inside the 18-yard box by Senegal’s keeper Pape Seydou.

However, Manchester City, on their official website Friday morning said: “Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored a late penalty to rescue a 1-1 draw for Nigeria against Senegal in a London friendly on Thursday night.

The goal was his fifth in six international appearances, to add to the seven he has scored for City in the 2016/17 campaign.” Meanwhile, KAA Gent defender, William Troost-Ekong, is happy with his 10th international appearance for the Nigerial.

The 25 year-old who made his debut for the three time African Champions against Chad in an AFCON qualifier against Chad in Kaduna two years ago, took to Instagram to praise his teammates for the fight against the physically built Senegalese side. Troost-Ekong tweeted: “Thanks for your great support! Good fight from the team for the draw. Proud to have played my 10th match for Nigeria.”
