Isaac Ekpo of Nigeria will take on Germany’s Tyron Zeuge in their World Boxing Association (WBA) super-middleweight and Global Boxing Union World super middleweight title clash at the MBS Arena in Potsdam, Brandenburg today in Germany.
It is Ekpo’s second chance at a world title after he lost the WBO World super middleweight title to Robert Stieglitz in 2013 and holds an impressive record of 31 wins, one defeat (24 knock-outs) since turning professional in 2008.
So far, the pugilist has won nine straight fights since his defeat to Stieglitz and his last fight was against Idrissa Kabore from Burkina Faso last October in Ghana. Ekpo, a former Commonwealth and WBO World super middleweight champion is also a regular feature at the GOtv Boxing Night and he beat another Burkinabe Jules Kabore in 2015 in his last outing in Nigeria.
Zeuge, 24, will make a mandatory defense of the title he won from Giovanni di Carolis in last November and is unbeaten in 19 fights. He has only drawn once. Ekpo, 34, who trained for the fight in Ghana said he was sure of victory in this crunch bout.
