We’re yet to take decision on indicted staff – INEC


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has not suspended the 202 staff indicted for electoral fraud in 2015 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
There was media reports two days ago that the affected staff had been indicted and placed on half salary pending conclusion of their trials in court.
But a statement Monday by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Augusta Ogakwu, INEC said it has not concluded its investigations on the matter and has not suspended the affected staff.
“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission has been drawn to the recent media report that it has suspended 202 staff that has been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission  (EFCC)‎ report,” the statement said.
It added that the commission is still in the process of investigating the allegation and interviewing the staff concerned in accordance with the principle of fair hearing.
INEC added that “no disciplinary action can be taken until the conclusion of the process.”
