An political group, Buhari Support Organisation (BSO), Enugu State chapter, has demanded an apology from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over what it described as the damage inflicted on the Nigerian economy by the immediate past administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan. BSO made the request while reacting to statement issued by the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP on President Muhammadu Buhari’s Easter message.
Speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Mr Eze Chibueze, the group said the PDP should rather apologise to Nigerians, instead of ‘insulting our collective intelligence with their nebulous economic policy which impoverished majority of Nigerians’.
The Makarfi faction had in a statement through its spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye, claimed that “the immediate past PDP government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan grew Nigeria’s GDP from $270.5 billion in 2009, and handed over a Nigeria that had grown to become the fastest growing and largest economy in Africa and 24th largest in the world with GDP of $574 billion in May, 2015 alongside a single digit inflation rate.
“The Buhari government is indeed clueless and had no economic plan until 2017, when it launched the so called recovery plan.
The economy is at standstill, major infrastructural development that began with the previous administration have been abandoned”.
