Top 100 Tourism Personalities West Africa to headline Accra Weizo 2017

As preparations peaked for this year’s Accra Weizo, a travel and tourism trade forum holding in Accra, Ghana, the organisers of the yearly event have revealed that their compendium on the Top 100 Tourism Personalities in West Africa would be presented to the public during the event. “Top 100 Tourism Personalities in West Africa is a report of ‘Who is who’ in the travel and tourism industry in West Africa.

This is in line with the vision of Accra Weizo, the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) travel and tourism fair, with a theme to promote seamless travels in West Africa,” said Ikechi Uko of Akwaaba – African Travel Market.

The three days event, which is to be held between May 26 and 27 at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, is organised by in partnership with Travellers Magazine.

Nominations for the awards are ongoing by the awards committee of experts in partnership with the board of ATQNews while the winners would be announced next week.

The Top 100 Tourism Personalities in West Africa are individuals who have distinguished themselves and through their efforts or that of their organisation have impacted positively on the travel and tourism sector across the West African sub region and whose effort have stimulated and helped to achieve their individual country’s tourism goals and forging interactions among stakeholders and customers across the region.

This year’s Accra Weizo, which is the third edition, is geared at creating networking opportunity for players in the travel and tourism industry to meet with products providers, companies and personalities who drive travel business in the sub region.

This presents a great opportunity for people and organisations seeking to do business in West Africa. The first day of the gathering will feature an extensive seminar session on various aspects of tourism business in ECOWAS; and presentation of the Top 100 Tourism Personalities in West Africa/BALAFON Awards 2017.

The second day will feature a session dedicated to digital marketing, networking, exposure and provision of skills while the exhibition aspect of the event spans the two days.

Pre and post event tours of Accra and tourism circuit of the country are also in the offing for travel journalists and other trade professionals attending the event, which is supported by the country’s tourism ministry, tourism board and a cross section of travel organisations across the west coast.
