…rumour about coup
It’s a worrisome development and I think we must all pay attention to it. During the last administration, there were reports of some elements especially from the North making moves to get the ex-president out of office but thank God for the Chief of Army Staff at the time, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau, who didn’t buy the idea.
For the current Chief of Army Staff to come out with such weighty information, one would have expected that he should have briefed the acting Commander-in-Chief, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo because we have not heard that Osinbajo has summoned the Chief of Army Staff or Chief of Defence Staff for briefing on the alarm.
Our democracy has come to stay and coup should never be mentioned anywhere it.
The people that want to perpetrate it are looking for trouble because it will not happen again in our history. How can we have a southerner ruling and some elements either from the North or South want to truncate our democratic system? Regardless of the inadequacies we are facing, democracy is still the best form of government and not government by gangsters of criminals.
So, a coup under any guise would not be welcomed. That is why some of us felt that President Muhammadu Buhari should have done what is appropriate by resigning if he knows that he is not capable, health-wise.
There is no need having someone occupying space without occupying the position. Over the years, the problem has always been with the civilians.
They are the ones, who always give the soldiers money to prosecute such dastard act. But we are saying that the soldiers themselves should be patriotic and committed.
If anyone approaches you for such act, you must be able to say no! I also think the way the Chief of Army Staff raised the alarm is even dangerous.
The Army has its own intelligence report and by now, we should have some people arrested already. Its either he is raising the alarm for the sake of alarm or he wants to take action. This alarm should be investigated; its either it is true or false.
