‘Journey to Egypt’, a new movie produced by the Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, has been premiered in cinemas across the country.
The movie was directed by Seun Jonathan and produced by Faith-Lift Productions Nigeria Limited, is a story that revolves round the persistent warnings to Nigerian youths who flee abroad in search of greener pastures but who end up being deported after obtaining illegal documents.
In the movie, Richard, the lead character played by Shola Oyin-Adejobi, travelled to United Kingdom with his friend Femi, played by Seun Jonathan, to further their education. Before they left, their friend, Sister Fumbi, warned them about the crave for greener pastures in foreign lands all in the pursuit of better life. Fumbi, according to the Bible, insists there are three categories of travellers.
The first ones are those who would prosper in strange land such as Isaac who prospered in the land of Egypt while the second are those that were sent to strange lands to deliver their people such as Joseph and the third category are those that would go to strange lands to hide for a period of time such as Joseph who was asked to take Mary and baby Jesus to Egypt to hide. The two friends, however, told Fumbi that they were tired of Nigeria and wandered why she believes so much in a country that has no future plan for youths with no infrastructure put in place for youths to thrive.
However, on getting to UK, they encountered an old Nigerian who told them to be wary of the land of freedom where diverse opportunities would be presented to them that can lead them astray and later truncate their destinies.
On seeing that their papers would soon expire after completion of their study, the two friends were advised by a Nigerian UK-based to engage in illegal marriage with a citizen of the land in order to get their permanent stay but both rejected the idea on the basis that they are born again Christians but Richard went back and agreed to the arranged wedding. Later, he was set up by the same friend who introduced the idea to him, he was arrested and later deported to Nigeria after doing restitution about how he got admission into the UK University through fraudulent means.
Disappointed, his widowed-aged mother reminded him of how she struggled to get money for his overseas trip, while Richard made up his mind to start life afresh and rise again from his fallen state. He was later admitted into the University of Lagos and later became a renowned international Bishop whom his friend Femi later came to Nigeria to seek help from after being childless for many years. Commenting on the movie, Odesola, who is the producer, said the movie was produced for youths.
