A football fan was reportedly killed by a motorist shortly after he left the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday. An eye witness, Kingsley Edem, said the deceased who was still agonising over the Super Eagles’ 2-0 loss to South Africa, rammed into the oncoming vehicle and died instantly.
The incident occurred around Aka Etinam Junction just a few meters away from the stadium. Edem said: “We don’t know what he was thinking, the unidentified middle-aged man just rammed into the coming car. He was coming from the stadium and we don’t know if he was thinking about the poor result.”
Another eye witness Bassey Akpan added: ” We tried to rush him to the hospital but he had died instantly. We still took him to the hospital when some policemen came he was later confirmed dead.”
