Decent conscious ladies now have a platform to contest in beauty pageantry as AFV presents, ‘Esther Beauty Pageant, the Christian Queen Nigeria, 2017’, a beauty pageant without any form of nudity.
Esther beauty pageant, 2017 is designed to project the virtues of decency, morals, discipline, intelligence and beauty divinely embedded in the female folks of age bracket 18-28 years.
To this end, the rule of the pageantry outlaws the use of bikini dresses during the contest and nudity is prohibited. Research has found that nudity, sexual harassment/intimidation and indecency have eaten deep into entertainment industry especially in pageantry. Nigerians and especially young girls are angry at organisers of beauty pageant for glamourizing nudity and many of them say they feel too self-conscious about going nude as a result of beauty pageantry, therefore are never willing to be part of any beauty pageant.
This demonstrates once again the need to build a platform that can raise models to stardom without going nude nor compromising their Christian faith, as we can see in the reigning, Queen of Esther Beauty Pageant, Queen Joy Ayozie, who by all standards is a beautiful damsel and a committed Christian that worships with Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.
“Nudity and indecent dressing does not bring out the beauty in a woman, but rather makes her look cheap and indecent,” said Emmanuel Chukwuji, President of Asher Fleet Ventures.
This year’s edition has a good number of contestants from various denominations, which include: Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Living Faith, Anglican, Catholic, Celestial Church, Daystar, Love World (Christ Embassy), House on the Rock, Salvation Ministry, Victorious Army Ministries, Dunamis International Gospel Church etc.
The auditions was held in six states namely, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Imo, Cross-river and Abuja, with 50 beautiful damsels emerging to contest at the grand finale. The winners were chosen based on their performance in bible studies.
