Foremost celebrity journalist and former presidential candidate, Bashorun Dele Momodu and members of his household are still basking in the euphoria of celebration which has pervaded their home recently and made congratulatory messages to pour in endlessly. Celebration mood started with the 25 years wedding anniversary between Bashorun Momodu and his lovely wife, Mobolaji. The bigger one later came few days ago as it was the golden jubilee birthday anniversary of the apple of Bashorun’s eye, his wife, Mobolaji Abiodun Momodu.
Going by his status as a celebrity journalist who has carved a niche for himself in high society, it was better left to the imagination what was going to go down at the birthday celebration fixed on 24th December. Expectedly, all roads led to Civic Centre located at highbrow area of Victoria Island, Lagos, where dignitaries and business moguls turned out in their numbers to identify with Bashorun Momodu on his wife’s birthday. The birthday ceremony was nothing short of expectation from a gathering by the publisher of Ovation Magazine as the event was simply a show of class, glamour and panache. The occasion started with thanksgiving service which was anchored by pastor Ojelabi and Ituha Ighodalo after which the reception proper was declared and gospel singer, Lanre Teriba took over the band to dish out tunes that put life into the day. Names on the long list of guests include: Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and wife, Funsho, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, Doyin Abiola, Kola Abiola, Oba Saheed Elegunshi, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Chief Alex Duduyemi, among others.
Deji Doherty lays father to rest in style
Engineer Deji Doherty is known to different people for various things. While the dude is cherished by some for his business acumen which has helped him succeed in whatever he puts his hands, the chubby and tiny voiced power dresser to others is a man who deserves to be held in high esteem in his constituency as a politician who stands for his people.
While it is an established fact that this handsome politician is highly concerned about the wellbeing of the people, the PDP Chieftain, it has been discovered is also passionate about his father. The father, at the ripe age of 84, after a brief illness passed on.
The former Lagos State governorship aspirant said he was so close to his father that he didn’t believe he had passed on until when he and his brother took the corpse to the morgue. After several weeks of planning and burial arrangement, the deceased was committed to mother earth penultimate weekend.
With the status of the deceased as well as that of his children who are all doing very well in their various fields of endeavour, Pa Doherty could not have asked for more if it was possible as the burial process which took place both in Ibadan and Lagos was nothing short of a befitting burial. Yemi Osinbajo, others, honour Babafemi Ojudu at in-law’s burial
Veteran journalist turned politician, who is the Special Adviser to President Mohammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, recently buried his father-in-law Pa Daniel Olajide Adebiyi. And by the virtue of his status as well as the good life the deceased lived, the burial ceremony which was done in Ekiti State ended up a classy one as the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo among other dignitaries turned up for the ceremony.
The burial rites which commenced on a Wednesday with a commendation service at Unity Secondary School, Ikere Ekiti was followed by service of songs at the deceased residence at Ajilosun Street, Ado Ekiti. The ceremony climaxed on Friday when a farewell service was held in honour of the deceased at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Otun Ekiti.
The Vice President paid glowing tributes to the deceased whom he described as a teacher of teachers, an astute and distinguished educationist and an elder in the Anglican faith from where he said he cut his religious teeth.
At the playground of Moba Grammar School, Otun Ekiti where the reception took place, guests were treated to good music, food and drinks as many prominent politicians within the state also turned up in solidarity with Ojudu.
Also in attendance were APC chieftains in the state including Senator Ayo Arise, Kayode Ojo, Bimbo Daramola, traditional rulers and many more.
Caleb Olumese returns for a new era
For anyone who is in tune with happenings in the social arena as far as Lagos metropolis is concerned, the name Ken Caleb Olumese will certainly not pose a problem. Edo born Olumese, better known as Guvnor, is a stakeholder in entertainment who owns the popular Niteshift Coliseum at Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos. It will be recalled this man, some years back announced his retirement from running his upscale hangout after over 30 years he had put in the game. Going by the story making rounds, Guvnor may have decided to return for another era in the hospitality business.
While the news of his return is fast spreading, revelers are not only happy, but they are anxiously waiting for action to kick up as they are sure of premium fun the Guvnor always provides as against fun currently dispensed in unprofessional manner all around. The latest upscale fun spot which is billed to open for business in matter of weeks will be known as The Premium Lounge, and it’s expected to be housed by the gigantic building known as The Coliseum, on Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja. Efforts, it was learnt are in top gear to complete final touches at the ground floor of the building, which is allotted to the lounge. The new venture, it was also learnt has the backing of Nigerian Breweries.
