Group frets over NPA’s redundant staff

Nigerian Importers Integrity Association (NIIA) has accused the management of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) over its Corporate and Strategic Communication (CSC) unit, filled with those who are slated for retirement.

It alleged that some of the staff in the unit lacked knowledge of public relations and strategic communication to run the department.

The President of the group, Elder Godwin Onyekazi, said in Lagos that the ineffective performance of the unit had led to a major setback for the organisation.

He said: “Those appointed lately are those about to retire and they use it as their exit point.

This is completely absurd.”

Onyekazi said that the authority would continue to experience challenges in its relationship with stakeholders until competent professionals are appointed in the unit.
