DSS grills ex-Information Minister, Maku

Former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku was yesterday grilled for over two hours by operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
Maku, who arrived at the state Command of the DSS with his lawyers, political associates and party officials, including his running mate in the 2015 governorship election in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Abu, was said to have been given a clean bill after several hours of interrogation by officers of the service.
New Telegraph learnt that the former Information Minister was invited by DSS following his public comments on political and insecurity in the country, ranging from insurgency and kidnapping to armed robbery and killings by suspected armed herdsmen in North Central especially Nasarawa and Benue States, among other national issues.
But, while addressing newsmen at the state Secretariat of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) party, after honoring the DSS’s invitation, the former Minister commended security agencies in the country for their collective and relentless efforts in tackling security challenges facing the nation.
Maku, who said he was invited by the Department of Security Service, expressed concern over endless killings by suspected armed herdsmen in some parts of the country, especially in Nasarawa State, and described the killings as politically motivated.
He, therefore, reminded politicians to be weary of politics of bitterness, as according to him, no ambition of any politician worth the life of any Nigerian or blood being shed.
The former minister appealed to the Federal Government to urgently end the wanton killings by suspected armed herdsmen across the country with a view to restoring peace and order in the affected states for the interest of development and peaceful co-existence.
