N10m bribery: FG arraigns CCT chair March 15

An Abuja High Court has fixed March 15 for the arraignment of the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, over alleged corruption.
The case has consequently been assigned to the Chief Judge of the court, Justice Ishaq Bello.
The Federal Government had filed a two-count corruption charge against Umar.
The two-count charge, marked CR/109/18, was signed by Festus Keyamo (SAN).
In the charge, Umar was accused of asking for the sum of N10 million from one Rasheed Owolabi Taiwo, while presiding over a case with Charge No. CCT/ABJ/03/13 sometime in 2012, at Abuja, for a favour to be afterward shown to him in relation to the pending Charge (No. CCT/ABJ/03/12) in discharge of his official duties.
He was said to have committed an offence contrary to Section 12(1)(a) & (b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2003.
Umar was also alleged to have received another N1,800,000 from the said Rasheed Owolabi through his Personal Assistant, Alhaji Gambo Abdullahi for a favour to be afterwards shown to him in relation to the pending charge in discharge of his official duties.
In a similar vein, Umar will, this morning, continue the trial of Taiwo over alleged non-declaration of assets, despite the pending charge against him (Umar).
