NYSC holds financial bid for kit items soon

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has assured contractors that the financial bid for the production and supply of kit items for corps members will soon be declared open.
Director General of NYSC, Brig-Gen. AZ Kazaure, disclosed this at the NYSC headquarters in Abuja during the technical bid opening for the supply of kit items.
The NYSC DG assured that successful contractors who scale through the technical bid after a painstaking screening exercise by the Evaluation Committee would be invited for the financial bid.
Kazaure stressed the need for contractors to strictly adhere to the rules and due process as stipulated in the Public Procurement Act, 2007.
He said that in line with the Federal Government’s policy on ease of doing business, transparency remains the watchword and every contractor would be provided a level playing ground.
Director of Procurement, Yakubu Jok, stated that the exercise started six weeks ago in line with the stipulations of the Act as they will be published in three national dailies inviting interested contractors to indicate interest and come for the technical bid.
Jok said while the NYSC appreciates the challenges contractors are faced with, they would not compromise quality, as only the best is good enough for the Nigerian youth.
He disclosed that a total of 176 contractors participated in the technical bid and expressed the hope that, in the spirit of sportsmanship, those who will not scale through to the financial bid should take it in good faith and wait for another chance.
Secretary, NYSC Tenders Board, Abubakar Bawa, advised contractors to take the pains to go through the list of items to enable them fulfill the needs of the organisation.
The bidding process was, on Monday, observed by the Chattered Institute of Purchasing and Supply; Fiscal Transparency and Accountability Initiative; the Bureau for Public Procurement and Advocacy for Civil Transparency and the media.
