2019: Ogun West elders plan summit for gov aspirants, others

Prominent elders and leaders of Yewa-Awori extraction in Ogun State yesterday unveiled strategic plans to break the jinx of Ogun West’s inability to produce governor of the state.

Under the aegis of Ogun West Elders Council, the leaders expressed their readiness to hold a political summit to mobilize support and mentor gubernatorial aspirants from the zone. The planned summit, with the theme “Ogun West For Governor: 2019 Is The Time,” holds on Wednesday in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

The council Chairman, Ajibola Olagbaye, who spoke in Abeokuta at a press conference heralding the summit, said no fewer than 500 participants, including aspirants and other stakeholders, would be in attendance to chart the way forward on the Ogun West agenda.

Olagbaye, who was flanked by other leaders, including Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Prof. Anthony Asiwaju, Chief Kunle Elegbede and Dr Dele Ogunsiji, among others, said the Yewa- Awori people were determined in their quest to produce the next governor of the state.
