Abia APC seeks members’ support for 2019 guber election

Ahead of 2019 elections, the executive council of Dr Okezie Abarikwu-led Abia Central area of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on members to work round the clock if the party must sack Dr Okezie Ikpeazu-led ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Addressing the members of the party at its meeting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, yesterday, Abarikwu said that their leader, Chief Ikechi Emenike was aware of their meeting as he had directed them to hold meetings where more members would be allowed to come in.

 

Abarikwu noted that before now APC in the state had been in turmoil which the Abia state High Court had rectified in its ruling last month, stressing that with the recent development hope had risen that the party would do well in 2019. He also explained that with the court ruling, the group was the authentic APC members in the state led by Dr Emmanuel Aguzie Ndukwe and his executive council membership and charged members of the local government executives to fish for new members.

 

The Abia Central APC chairman told the party members that the meeting was also called to sensitize them about the forthcoming congress of the party “which will hold in no distant time despite the court case before them as directed by the national body.”

 

 

Abarikwu, however, said “we are aware that it is not easy to unseat an incumbent governor in an election, therefore we need to work hard if we want to remove him, everybody must get his/her PVC for it to be possible.”
