Anyanwu warns aides against hate campaign

A governorship aspirant and senator representing Imo East in the National Assembly, Chief Sam Daddy Anyanwu, has pledged to run his governorship campaign without hate speech. Anyanwu also vowed to publicly disown any of his aides or supporters, who engages in hate speech against any of his opponents, even if it is meant to give him political advantage.

The senator, who spoke with journalists at his Owerri residence yesterday, said he was troubled by the spate of violence and political temperament in the country, largely occasioned by hate speeches and actions. He said: “The level of hate politics in our country today has brought family members to destroy family bond and unity. It has pitched church members against one another.

It has brought long standing childhood friendship to an abrupt end. It has also divided closely-knit communities, towns, local governments and zones in a state into enclaves of mutual mistrust. “It is in consideration of this and many other reasons that I have decided to promote brotherliness, good neighbourliness and comradeship in the quest to seek support by all aspirants to public office in 2019.”
