LaLiga: Barcelona target another record against Celta Vigo



Barcelona will on Tuesday (today) target another record when they take on Celta Viga in a midweek game as they move closer to the league title.


A 39th consecutive game unbeaten saw the Blaugrana set a new all-time La- Liga record when they defeated Valencia at the weekend and will be looking forward to making it a record 40-games.


The club currently have an 11-point-lead with just five games remaining in the season. Atlético Madrid remain second, with Sunday afternoon’s 3-0 victory at home to Levante seeing Diego Simeone’s side into the Champions League for a sixth consecutive year. Soon to depart fans’ hero ‘El Niño’ Torres entered as a substitute and netted his 100th career LaLiga goal.


Real Madrid who jumped ahead of Valencia to the fourth spot with a 2-1 victory at Malaga on Sunday evening will hope to maintain their Champions League slot with another victory when they host Athletic Club at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.


In the relegation battle, Deportivo La Coruna, who gave themselves hope after Clarence Seedorf’s side edged a five goal thriller at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday evening, will play host to Sevilla also on Tuesday (today) as Leganes, will be visiting Villarreal that same evening.


Wednesday sees Valencia at home to Getafe, and Espanyol against Eibar at Cornella el-Prat. Thursday brings Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann back at his former club Real Sociedad, Girona at Alavés, Levante aiming to move closer to safety at home to Malaga, and Las Palmas really needing a win at Betis.
