Ondo APC accuses Abraham’s camp of blackmailing judiciary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State yesterday accused Dr Segun Abraham’s camp, who is challenging outcome of the party’s primary which produced Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as candidate of the party in 2016 governorship election of planning to blackmail the judiciary.

APC Director of Media in the state, Mr Steve Otaloro in a statement denied allegation that the governor was planning to frustrate hearing of the substantive suit challenging the result of the party’s primary.

Abraham’s camp had alleged that the APC-led government of Akeredolu was attempting to frustrate the matter filed by Abraham at an Abuja Federal High Court, challenging the declaration of Akeredolu as the winner of the 2016 APC governorship primary through application of technicalities, particularly challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case.

The court has fixed the hearing of the suit for April 18. But Otaloro said the allegation by Abraham’s camp was a strategy to hoodwink those who were following the matter in court. He said: “Having gone through their claimed evidence, the reality has dawned on them that it wasn’t sufficient to make the court grant Abraham’s prayers.
