Plateau to sack teachers for dual appointments

Published

on

If the threat by the Plateau State Government should see the light of the day, no fewer 155 teachers in schools across the state may be on their way out of the system, due to their dual appointments with both the state and local government. Chairman, State Teachers Service Commission (STESCOM), Chief Vonjen Lar, who disclosed this while addressing some journalists in his office in Jos, noted that the state government had in February recruited a total of 834 teachers for secondary schools, but recently discovered that 155 of them were already engaged by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) as primary school teachers. Lar, a retired Permanent Secretary, recalled that the 155 teachers by this attitude had violated the state’s civil service rule number 030402 (q), which frowns over anyone holding two government appointments at the same time.
