…You can’t foist son in-law on us, Uwajumogu tells gov

A senator representing Imo North on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benjamin Uwajumogu, has warned Governor Rochas Okorocha to desist from his alleged attempt to impose his son-in-law, Mr. Uche Nwosu, on the people of the state as the next governor.

The lawmaker said such attempt would end as a futile effort. Uwajumogu, who gave this warning in an interview with New Telegraph in Abuja, described the alleged plan by the governor to make his son-in-law succeed him in 2019 as the height of immorality in the activities of his administration.

The politician said that the plan, if allowed to materialise, would amount to continued negation of the “Imo State Charter of Equity”, which he said was signed even before the late Sam Mbakwe became governor of the state. He explained that the Charter was a rotational arrangement among the three political zones of the state, namely: Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri, which stipulated that the governorship seat should rotate among the three enclaves for the purpose of fostering equity, justice, peace and development in the state. Uwajumogu, however, observed that since the return of civil governance to Nigeria in 1999, Orlu zone had occupied the governorship position for 16 years, to the exclusion of other zones, particularly Owerri Zone, as he noted that Okigwe had taken a shot at the Imo Government House for only a period of four years
