Truck crushes TASUED student

Hundreds of students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, yesterday went on the rampage to protest the death of their female colleague, who was crushed by a truck on the Benin-Ore-Lagos Expressway.

The victim, identified as Kofoworola Tobiat Kuku, was said to have been knocked down by a truck driver, who escaped from the scene. It was learnt that Kuku was on her way to school on a commercial motorcycle when the sad incident occurred about 12:15p.m. Miffed by the accident, TASUED students mobilised themselves and barricaded the ever-busy expressway with logs and made bon fires on the highway.

 

Their action was said to have prevented both human and vehicular movements along expressway. The protest lasted several hours despite entreaties by security operatives and community leaders in Ijebuland.

 

The state Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Clement Oladele, confirmed the crash. Oladele, however, stated that the commercial motorcyclist, who conveyed the victim, escaped death by a whisker.
