The Olu of Ibogun – Balogun in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State and promoter of Ifa Olokun Foundation, Oba Adesina Ifakayode Faluade, has been honoured by the Ogun State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students Development Initiatives (NANSDI). While conferring the merit award and notifying him of his appointment as the association’s patron in his palace, leader of the students’ organisation, Mr. Opeyemi Oprah, described Faluade as a visionary and charismatic monarch whose exemplary leadership was worthy of emulation.

Oprah further noted that the body deemed the Ibogun monarch fit for the honour after due consideration of his zeal and commitment to the uplift of the African culture and tradition. He stressed that all Ogun State students were quite appreciative of Faluade’s unquestionable characters, extraordinary leadership and pioneering role in laying a good foundation for the promotion of African tradition and culture.

“We found Oba Faluade worthy of the honour because he is found to be a quintessential monarch whose reign has brought immense peace and socio-economic development to Ibogun in particular and Ogun State in general. “We also found the highly revered monarch worthy of the honour in recognition of his contributions to nation building and particularly, his loyal and dedicated services to the development of the Yoruba race and the maintenance of peace and tranquility as a worthy custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition,” Oprah said.

In acknowledgment, Faluade said he felt highly honoured and that words were inadequate to express his heart-felt appreciation and sincere gratitude to the students’ body for deeming it fit to honour him. The Ibogun monarch, however, assured the students of his determination to live up to expectation by bringing positive innovations and dynamism into the promotion of African culture and tradition to the delight and admiration of all in and outside Yorubaland.
