Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland gets new president

Glamour and glitz filled the air as Rotary Club of Lagos Mainland organised a hand-over ceremony to usher in a newly elected president for the 2018/2019 Rotary year. The epoch-making event, which was held at the company’s secretariat in the Ebute Metta axis of Lagos, recently, had the vast majority of members and eminent personalities across the District 9110 in attendance. Dignitaries that graced the occasion included the Assistant Governor, District 9110, Gabriel Onyema, a past Assistant Governor, Kehinde Amao, and other senior executives from some of the branches in the District.

In his hand-over note, the outgoing president, Akeem Oguntade, while thanking all, enumerated the laudable projects his administration was able to execute, which include health day programme, free eyes screening exercise, support for the indigent on basic literacy, polio eradication and immunisation exercise. In his maiden speech, the newly elected President, Kazeem Bakare, stressed the need to strengthen the bond of fellowship among members, with regards to having more members attend the next international convention taking place in Hamburg, Germany. His words: “In the 2018/2019 Rotary year, we need to strengthen the club and do all that we can do to ensure that more members among us attend the next international convention in Hamburg. I will be glad if we can work together to achieve a lot for the club, especially in the area of selfless and humanitarian services to the society. That’s what we are known for.”
