Osun guber: Women group backs Oloyede

As the 2018 Osun State governorship election draws near, an Osun women group under the aegis of Obokun Women Forum (OWF) has pledged its support for the deputy-governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), retired Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede, calling on the women folks across the length and breadth of the state to rally round the retired jurist. The women forum gave the charge through its leader, Mrs. Agboola Taiwo, at an interactive session with the ADC deputy-governorship candidate during a familiarisation tour of the Obokun Local Government Area of thesState.

They assured Justice Oloyede of their support for her aspiration by promising to mobilize women voters across the area for the party. In a statement issued by Oloyede’s media office, Agboola decried the low participation of women in politics, advising female folk to throw their weight behind the ADC in the forthcoming governorship election.

She therefore advocated for more women participation in politics so as to avoid being marginalised in the decision making process in the state and Nigeria at large. According to the forum, she maintained that women and youths would be responsible for the victory of any political party in the forthcoming guber election, explaining that the forum would work assiduously with the Justice Oloyede to ensure the 35 percent achievement affirmative action for women in the next political dispensation. She also urged the women in the area to commence the house to house campaign for the success of the ADC, while praising the party for its 40 percent affirmative for women in its constitution, urging the party leadership to always respect the constitution of the party.

In her remarks, Justice Oloyede assured the women of all inclusive administration if herself and her Principal, Alhaji Fatai Akinade Akinbade, are elected on September 22. She however assured of the 40 per cent affirmative for women in their administration as stipulated by the ADC constitution.
