Presidential Initiative trains 1,000 teachers in Yobe

The Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) has trained over 1,000 primaries school teachers in schools Yobe State for effective and improved teaching and learning in the state. According to the state Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Hon Aliyu Buba Amshi, who disclosed this in Damaturu, the training of the teachers would address the gap of trauma counseling and psychosocial support, security and safety as well as teaching techniques, among others.

He said the collaboration with Yobe State University in the fiveday capacity building workshop for primary school teachers was a great achievement which would further promote the state’s education sector under the leadership of PCNI. Amshi urged the teachers who participated in the training to use the knowledge they acquired to impact positively on their students, stressing that education is key of life and as the backbone of any society.

He said: “The training will benefit the students in the area of effective learning since the teachers have acquired new methodologists and ways of making classroom activities more conducive for learning.”

He commended the Initiative for implementing project in the region so as to improve the life of the people through this programme, and sought the support of the Federal Government in the collective effort to sanitise the security situation of the region.
