APC to ratify Buhari’s candidature October 6

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will, at its National Convention slated for October 6, ratify the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 presidential election.
The party will also at the Convention issue flags to its governorship candidates across the country for the general elections next year.
The presidential primary election will hold on September 25, while the governorship primary election holds on September 29.
President Buhari is the sole aspirant for the APC presidential ticket.
The party had hitherto scheduled its presidential primary for September 20, but yesterday shifted it to September 25. The governorship primary was earlier scheduled for September 26.
Other primary elections dates shifted are: Senatorial, October 2 and House of Representatives, October 3.
APC National Organising Secretary, Mr. Emma Ibediro, in a statement issued in Abuja in respect of the changes said: “The National Working Committee (NWC) has approved the review of the timetable for the conduct of the 2018 primary elections.”
The party has adopted direct primary for its presidential contest and other primaries, but most of the state governors on the platform of the party are adopting indirect primaries.
According to Ibediro, the party would screen all the aspirants in Abuja, except state House of Assembly aspirants.
“On October 6, the party would ratify the ticket of the presidential candidate and issue flags to its governorship candidates,” the source said.
