Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has pledged his commitment to the Primary Healthcare in the state.
The governor said this in Lokoja while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, in his office.
Faisal hailed the governor for his unrelenting support to the Agency, saying Kogi State is one of the few states that have shown “great commitment” to the uplifting of PHC in the country.
“Our Agency is appreciative of the state government’s healthcare delivery, which has been displayed through its support to Primary Healthcare in the state.
“We are here to commend the state government and to also urge it to do more in order to ensure quality healthcare services at the grassroots.”
Responding, the governor said healthcare delivery is one of the priorities of his administration, assuring the agency that “no resources will be spared in ensuring our people have access to quality primary healthcare delivery”.
Bello thanked the agency for its support, pledging to keep working with it to “embolden the confidence of the Kogi people in his healthcare policies.”
The CEO of the NPHCDA was accompanied by the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Yakubu.
In his comments, the Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna, said the Bello administration places high premium on primary healthcare delivery, urging the Agency to increase its intervention in the state.
Haruna said the state would continue to collaborate effectively with the Agency and other international partners to improve healthcare delivery to its people.
