Imo signs MoU with partners for Principals’ Cup



…hails Zenith Bank, Hidea-plus


Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has extolled Zenith Bank and HIDEA-PLUS for contributing to the success story of the state government’s free Education programme through the education support activity like football.


Governor Okorocha who was represented by the Commissioner of Education Prof Florence Emenalo at the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between HIDEA-PLUS and Imo state Ministry of Education at the conference room of the ministry.


Prof Emenalo said the coming of Zenith Bank and HIDEA-PLUS was timely in view of the already existing free Education programme of the Rescue Mission government and would help enhance effective involvement of Imo children in learning through such education support activities which sports is major part of. She said the present administration in Imo had given Children free education from primary School to tertiary level and the Principals Cup would in no small way help cement the programme. Emenalo maintained that the ministry would give all the necessary Support to HIDEA-PLUS to ensure the success of the competition and enjoined the partners to be at their best in organising a worthwhile tournament.


Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of HIDEA-PLUS Tony Pemu said the signing of the MOU between his organization and Imo State Ministry of Education was a step geared towards furthering the developmental stride of the Okorocha-led administration through this education support initiative. He said the organization was proud to associated with the goings on in Imo and pledged Zenith Bank’s commitment in ensuring that the programme was a huge success.


Pemu stated that the football competition would be among all public and private secondary schools in Imo and would help discover budding talents in the state, keep students out of social vices and give them opportunity to be physically and mentally alert.


He also said HIDEA-PLUS is a consultant to Zenith Bank lead sponsors of the Principals’ Cup and has first held such in two states of the South-South Edo and Delta which impact has been tremendous, adding that through it grassroot Football development has grown to its peak in these states and it is the model the Organization will replicate in Imo. He said the competition would as well foster unity, team work and healthy rivalry among participants and assured that students at end of Championship ail be rewarded to encourage participation in subsequent outings. Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of Education Mr Austin Iheaka and the Director of school sports Mr Cyril Anaele.
