INEC registers another 381,051 voters in Niger

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday said it has registered another 381,051 voters in Niger State.

 

State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Sam Egwu, stated this in a press statement made available to our Correspondent in Minna.

The resident commissioner said a total number of 14.5 million new voters had been registered nationwide from the 2017 to 2018 continuous voters registration exercise.

The statement said the commissioner had also held stakeholders meeting with leaders of political parties in the state as they gear up for primaries.

He urged the parties to adhere strictly to all laid down rules and procedures in the conduct of their primaries to avoid litigation by aggrieved members.

Accordingly, he said: “The political parties led by the Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and current Chairman of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Abubakar Abdullahi Gwada, all agreed to play the game by the rules in order to further deepen democracy.”
