The factional chairman of Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Peter Odike has described the decision of the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to adopt direct primaries for aspirants vying for political offices on the platform of the party as a move that would reflect the people’s will.
Odike, who is in the camp of the Senator, representing Rivers South East senatorial district, Magnus Abe, stated this yesterday at the state’s Executive Committee meeting, held at the party’s secretariat, insisting that indirect primaries was working against internal democracy.
At the meeting, which was attended by Abe and other party stalwarts, Odike also said that the party would work in line with the party’s constitution in ensuring that party members were not denied the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
