Uncertainty over venue for Nigeria, Libya clash

The Nigeria Football Federation and the Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr are yet to agree on the venue for the team’s next African Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya on October 13 as the coach rejects the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Rohr had last month visited the stadium with top officials of the federation but reports suggested he was not impressed with the size of the pitch, noting that it was not big enough for his players to express themselves.

Sources confirmed that the final decision on the venue was yet to be taken and that is why the NFF was yet to make an official statement regarding that.

“It is true that final decision regarding the stadium hasn’t be made; the NFF and Rohr are still in discussion about that because the coach was not really impressed with Kaduna pitch. The final words about that will be made in the coming days,” the source confirmed.

The team has made Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo their base for the home matches but the Akwa Ibom State government could not guarantee the availability of the venue this time.
