Lagos Open: Nigerian-born American hails organisers as tourney ends today

 

Nigerian-born United States indigene, Ayeni Damina, has hailed the organisers of the Lagos Tennis Open Future Four and Five which comes to an end today.
The 19-year-old player is based in California and is from Jos in Plateau State said the level of of the tournament in terms of organisations and competitiveness had gone up.
He said although he did not win at the tournament, he did not do badly and was happy to come back to his fatherland and feature in a competition of such magnitude.
“I’m so happy playing this tournament for the second time. There is high level of competitiveness in the Lagos Open. This is so because any tournament in the range of $25,000 always sees tough players coming around to play.
“I didn’t do badly judging from the time I arrived the country and the time I played. I had not been able to aclimatize very well. But I was so happy playing in the tournament
“I was here in 2015 and I can see that the organisational aspect has gone professional from the venue and the hotel. I think the organisers can improve on what is on ground now for future tournaments.”
Dignitaries, including top government functionaries are expected to grace today’s final.
Frenchman Tom Jomby and Indian girl, Pranjala Yadlapalli, won the men and women’s singles respectively of the first leg (Futures Four).
