Oshiomhole meets Zamfara guber aspirants as party considers Lawal

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday met with Zamfara State governorship aspirants. The governorship primaries of the party in the state last week ended inconclusive and on Tuesday the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wrote to APC that it would not be fielding candidates in the next year’s election.

The party’s national leadership had replied INEC, stating that it would field candidates in Zamfara State. According to APC in a letter signed by its national chairman, it would be illegal for INEC to bar the party from fielding candidates in Zamfara. But yesterday the party met with the aspirants at the private office of Oshiomhole in Aso Drive. An inside source, who confirmed the meeting, said the party was considering the candidature of Mr. Dauda Lawal, for the governorship ticket. Among the aspirants interested in the job were Dauda Lawal; Mukhtar Idris Shehu; Mansur Ali; Ustaz Ibrahim Mohammed Wakala; Kabiru Marafa; Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi; Aminu Sani Jaji; Abubakar Magaji and Mohammed Sagir Hamidu.
