The Governing Council of Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, has named a new Vice-Chancellor for the private university. He is Prof. Moses Onwukwe Edom Iwuala, who assumed the position as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
A statement by the Registrar, Dr. Austin Orisakwe, said the new vice-chancellor succeeded the pioneer Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Juliet Elu. The statement lauded the former vice-chancellor, saying:
“Whose vision, pioneering efforts, dedication and exemplary leadership not only encouraged the establishment of the institution on a strong moral and academic foundation, but also stimulated the emergence of the private university as the preferred destination for sound entrepreneurial training.”
Iwuala, the statement added is a Professor of Biological Sciences and a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he obtained First Class Honours Bachelor of Science and attended the University of London for his M.Sc and PhD degrees.
Prior to his appointment, Iwuala was said to have had more than 30 years’ experience in the university system, as an acclaimed academic, and Research and Development expert.
Iwuala, as a Registered Scientific Patent, has over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications to his credit, mostly in the areas of Parasitology and Vector Biology, Ecology and Control.
