One Richard Udeozor was Wednesday remanded in prison custody by an Owerri Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly practicing law with forged certificates.
Udeozor was arraigned by the police on a seven-count charge of practicing law with false certificates; presenting false call-to-bar certificates and being in possession of forged Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stamp and seal.
He was further charged with presenting a forged qualifying certificate from the Council of Legal Education as proof of having attended Law School, all in contravention of section 467 of the criminal code.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, also chose to have the case tried at the magistrate court.
The Police Prosecutor, Barr. S. Onwuchekwa stated that the accused was a serial defaulter who had committed the same offence previously in Anambra where he had jumped bail.
