Jumia courier’s killers won’t escape justice –CP

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, has promised that those who killed a courier working for Jumia, an online retail firm, will not go unpunished. The yet-to-be identified courier was killed in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt in Obior/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State last Saturday.

His body was thrown inside a septic tank by three suspects who were arrested in the compound where the murder took place. The courier was killed after delivering two iPhones, and a super bike ordered online to the suspects.

The suspects, Sodienye Mbatumukeke, Excel Naabe and Joy Eluwa, were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) following a tip-off. Sources said two others, who had a hand in the gruesome murder, were currently on the run. Ahmed, who led other senior police officers to the scene, appealed to the public to always help the police solve crimes by sharing useful information with the police.

The commissioner also promised to flush out all criminal elements in the state. Ahmed said the victim’s murder over iPhones was unfortunate. On his part, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, said the body of the courier had been deposited in the mortuary. He said: “The suspects are helping the police and efforts are on to arrest others fingered in the dastardly act.”
