Lagos PDP’ll sweep council poll –Adewale

Ahead of the July 22 local government election in Lagos State, the state chairman of the party, Otunba Segun Adewale aka Aeroland, has expressed the determination of the party to sweep most of the council chairmen and councillors positions in the election.

Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Lagos, Adewale, who is the chairman of the Sheriff’s faction of the PDP in the state, said he is formally taking over the running of the party’s secretariat to ensure total victory for the party in the forthcoming local government poll and the 2019 governorship election.

Adewale, while addressing his supporters, stated that he was taking over the secretariat, following the decision of the Moshood Salvador group of Makarfi-led PDP to join Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), declaring that for PDP in the state, it was “no more to failure.”

The PDP chieftain, who recalled several efforts he made to ensure unity in the party in the state but which were rebuffed by Salvador- led Makarfi’s faction, also asserted that the Sogunle, Lagos secretariat of PDP, remained the only party secretariat in the whole of Nigeria that had not won any election for the party. “We have been running for election since 2003, and we have been failing.

This is the only secretariat in Nigeria that has not won governorship election in the history of PDP in Nigeria. This is the only secretariat since 2003 and it is high time we did and we are saying give us the opportunity, I mean our own generation to do that for the PDP.

“So, we are the Sheriff faction and the Appeal Court affirmed by its judgment that Sheriff is the authentic chairman of PDP and Sheriff was the one that conducted our own party congress here in Lagos that brought me as chairman of Lagos PDP. By that they should honour and respect the office,” he said.

Adewale, therefore, called on members of the party, who he said might have been deceived to go to APDA, to return to PDP in order to ensure total victory for it in the coming local government election. He attributed the failure to the fact that the leadership of the party in the state had been doing things the same way since 2003 till date, declaring that, “you cannot be doing things the same way and expect to get result.”
