Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday said he has ordered contractors handling various road projects in the state back to site. Amosun, who spoke with reporters after the State Executive Council meeting in Abeokuta, said the contractors had been re-mobilised to fast-track the ongoing road projects which construction ceased due to paucity of funds.
He, however, listed some of the roads to include Akute-Alagbole, Ilo Awela, Atan-Agbara, Moshood Abiola Way, OGTV-Ajebo and Ikangba/ Ilese roads, among others.
The governor assured that his administration would complete all ongoing projects in the state before leaving office in 2019. “We realise we have two years to leave. Ogun Standard is what we believe; we will continue to give our people the dividends of democracy. We have remobilised our contractors two weeks ago, they are now back on site,” he added.
Amosun, who lamented poor state of federal roads in the state, urged the Federal Government to cede the roads to the state government, saying the federal government was yet to refund N124billion owed the state for repairing federal roads. According to him, the state government always spent N400million to intervene and ease congestion on federal roads, especially during rainy season.
