Anglican Bishop of Ngbo Diocese, Rev. Christian Ebisike yesterday called on the federal government to commence arrest and prosecution of the rampaging Fulani herdsmen with a view to restoring confidence in the system.
According to him, their arrest and prosecution would stem the tide of wanton massacre of innocent Nigerians as the killings by the Fulani herdsmen had continued because there were no sanctions.
Ebisike said this at a press conference to commemorate 10th anniversary of his ordination as Bishop Creation of Ngbo Diocese of the Anglican Communion. He regretted that the herdsmen, who had freely moved around with powerful weapons had unleashed terror, killing people at any slightest provocation.
He said: “One thing about this nation is that tribalism is always the whole thing. I don’t see reasons people who are in our communities rearing cattle should be using AK-47 and other sophisticated weapons and they are allowed to move freely when at slightest provocation they will use it and slaughter people. “If any of these herdsmen has been jailed or killed the way they kill people, all these their senseless killings would have stopped and others will take caution.
