Boundary dispute community seeks Obiano’s intervention

The people of Umuawo Community, Nando in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra state, have accused a neighboring community, Abube Agu of trespassing into its land and forcefully taking some part as well as some houses of members of the community.

In a petition dated March 9 which was made available to journalists in Awka yesterday and signed by the community’s lawyer, I.C Nsofor, it asked the Court of Appeal to charge Abube for contempt.

Besides, it petitioned Governor Willie Obiano and the Department of State Service (DSS) over the land dispute with Abube-Agu Community, urging them to help nib the matter in the bud.

It reads: “It is surprising that the said Committee, being influenced by members of the Abube-Agu community who accidentally found themselves within the corridors of power in Anambra State, have revisited the issue of boundary demarcation and is planning to visit the land and re-demarcate same to suit the whims and caprices of these individuals.”
