Comey confirms FBI probing links between Team Trump, Russia

FBI Director James Comey on Monday confirmed the agency is probing Moscow’s meddling in the presidential election and whether there was coordination between Trump campaign advisers and the Kremlin.
“I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI as part of our counterintelligence mission is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts,” Comey told the House Intelligence Committee.
Rep. Devin Nunes, the chair of the committee, said it’s evident the Trump Tower wasn’t wiretapped but other means of monitoring may have been used.
“Let me be clear: we know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower, it’s still possible that other surveillance activities were used against President Trump and his associates,” Nunes said in a statement opening the hearing on Monday, reports New York Post.
