Jakande, Obaseki want House of Reps named after Enahoro

Former Lagos State governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to name the House of Representatives after the late frontline politician, Chief Anthony Enahoro.

Speaking at an event where Enahoro, a politician and journalist who moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence in 1957 was posthumously honoured alongside others, Obaseki said that the role he played which led to the country’s independence in 1960 should not been forgotten.

Also, honoured at the maiden ceremony of mem- bers of the Castle of Legends Initiative (COI)inauguration and lecture in honour of late Chief Enahoro include Alhaji Salihu Abubakar Tanko Yakassai, Chief Mbazuluike Amaechi, Senator Obi Nosike Ikpo and former first civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande respectively, for their nationalist struggle and liberation of the country.

Alhaji Jakande, who was represented at the event by HRH Oba Rufus Olarenwaju, Oba of Gbomina-Ekiti, Governor Obaseki and President of Castle of Legends Initiative and Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri as well as other speakers said naming the nation’s House of Representative Chamber after Chief Enahoro would immortalize him for moving the critical motion that gave Nigeria independence.
