National Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday donated laptops and printers to the Oyo State Police Command for effective and quality discharge of their duties in line with global standard. Making the donation to the Police Commissioner, Mr Sam Adegbuyi, at the Eleyele Police Headquarters, Ibadan on behalf of the NCC, was Mrs Hafsat Lawal, the Legal and Regulatory Service Officer.
While speaking with journalists on the motive of the donation, Mrs Lawal said “as part of the commitment to always help the police combat crime in our society that is why we have been going round the police commands throughout the country to donate ICT materials to them as a way to help them combat crime especially in the area of cyber crime, internet fraud and so many other criminal acts that are beeing perpetrated on the internet”. Assisted by Mr.Tajudeen Saka of the NCC Ibadan, Mrs Lawal said that “the police have always remained our friend and partner by coming to our aid anytime we are in need of their help or whenever we are doing seminar or public lectures. They always come around and we always feel their impact .
That is the main reason we are going around to make sure that we give out some materials to them so we can use the avenue to assist them and that the materials can be used to enhance the police in carrying out their job deligently.”
In his response, the Police Commissioner said, “we will continue to make sure that our relationship continues to be much stronger as we will always be ready to help anytime we are called by the NCC for any assignment as we always do and I promise that we will use the materials given to us judiciuosly”.
Mrs. Lawal used the forum to urge members of the public to always give the police adequate information as it will help the police to do their job effectively. She said that people should not be afraid to call the police for any information that will help them in their information and they should always have it in mind that security job is everybody’s business.
