Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah, yesterday urged Benue State’s Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom to emulate security and development model of Governor Nyesom Wike to stop the killings orchestrated by Fulani herdsmen in his state.
He expressed concern over the insecurity in Benue leading to continued loss of lives of innocent citizens under the watch of Ortom, noting that any government worth its salt should be able to provide security for its citizens. Obuah said Wike achieved the feat of providing security for the people of Rivers despite being distracted, adding that the Wike administration in Rivers had achieved much for the people of the state.
The PDP chairman also called on Ortom to copy Wike’s development model, which he noted had transformed Rivers, inviting the Benue governor on a tour of projects to see the level of development first hand.
The PDP chairman, who spoke in a statement signed by his media con-sultant, Jerry Nerdam, said prominent Nigerians from within and outside Rivers State, including Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, visited the state and commended Wike on his developmental projects.
He noted that apart from the landmark peace and security in the state, which was largely a product of the various deliberate and committed efforts and successful amnesty programme of Wike, Port-Harcourt, the state capital and its environs now wear a new look, following the Operation Keep Rivers State Clean through the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA). Obuah regretted that Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom was unable to pay salaries of civil servants running into several months, after borrowing over N60 billion in seven months.
