Taraba State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Victor Bala, yesterday said that the state chapter does not belong to any faction of the party struggling to control the national secretariat.
Bala disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Jalingo, where he explained that the power tussle between Senator Ali Modu- Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi had no effect on Taraba State chapter of the party.
He noted that the members of the party in the state are still working together in unity despite the crisis at the national level, saying: “We in Taraba belong to PDP and not to any faction struggling for power at the national level.”
Bala added: “You can see that the power tussle has been going on there for some time now, but the party won all the bye elections and the recent local council polls in the state.
The crisis at the national level has no effect on the Taraba chapter because it has remained neutral.”
He, however, expressed optimism that the crisis at the national level would be over so that the party could prepare itself for 2019 general elections.
The chairman also said that Governor Darius Ishaku-led PDP government in the state was keeping to its campaign promises, even as he cited provision of access roads, portable water and assistance to farmers to enhance the growth of agricultural sector in the state, as well as some of the key areas where the governor is doing well.
